A romantic comedy novel. Launch date to be determined.
Stanley's convinced the timing is right to propose again to ex-wife #2, and Loretta, divorced for the second time, is absolutely, definitely done with relationships, but then she takes a job at Stanley's firm, sixteen years after their first fleeting encounter, and it's love at first sight all over again…what could possibly go right?
It's 1984, and Loretta, disheartened, her second divorce just finalized, decides she's returning to her Brooklyn, New York, neighborhood. She wants to simply focus on her Communications career and to afford her two children the opportunities they wouldn't otherwise have in Canada. Stanley, under the shadow of his late father, is struggling to assert himself as president of the family's business. He also feels the time is right to propose to his ex-wife. When Loretta takes a job at Stanley's firm, there's instant attraction, as was the case when they'd met fleetingly sixteen years earlier. However, neither admits to remembering the other: Loretta wants nothing to do with another relationship, especially not with her boss, and Stanley's convinced she doesn't remember him.
A company scandal then puts Stanley at risk of being removed as president, and a car accident leaves Loretta in serious legal peril, including the prospect of jail time. Then shortly thereafter Geraldine Ferraro is nominated as Vice President, the first female (and first Italian) in American history, and in the prospect of working for her campaign Loretta aspires to do the type of work that will at least make her kids proud, and Stanley sees a path to rehabilitating the company (and his) image. Working closely together, Stanley fights his feelings for Loretta, with the knowledge she's not open to relationships: but while he can't be with her, he also can't not be with her.
